WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee met on Thursday. There were present : Hi's Worship the Mayor (Mr It. Cock), and Crs. W. A. Wood, Cliff, Wilson, Brooking,, M. Frascr, G. Browne, C. Ahier, J. S. Medley, and Collis. Mr Meslayei', consulting engineer, was iu attendance. Tenders for the septic lank were then considered, and one recommended for acceptance by the councils : ! ' ' I In reply to Or. Brooking, Mr jMestayer said the only thing to be done was to press the contractors jfor the tunnelling for the waterworks as much as possible. J Messrs Pikett and Co. were granted an extension of time for six J ?eeks on their contract on the waterworks. Mr Mestayer answered several questions put by councillors on va|r,ioua details connected with the waterworks and electric lighting. | It was decided to cancel A. Ross' license as" cab-driver owing to him breaking the Bye-law re furious driving.
