Whiteley Church Sunday School
The, anirial picnic in connection with the above Sunday School (with which were united the teachers and scholars of the OKI Street Baptist Church]) took place yesterday at Lnichmont, Fitzroy, the residence of Mr A. A. Pikotl. The weather conditions in the early forenoon were not favourable, and consequently a start was not made for the place of meeting: until ] p.m. Lunch was served in Whiteley Hall, and from there the scholars, teachers and fiic.li a went out in West's drags. On arrival at Mr Pikelt's grounds, games of alj sorts were indulged in by thi .voting- people and even those of maturer years. Ten was served at 'I p.m. to the scholars-, after which a number of visitors were entertained. The bright sun and qool breeze made the afternoon gathering most enjoyable. A number of rate; were got off by the sports committee, each bu'nw keenly contested. Pining the afternoon Mr Turner's oicl-.estra was on the ground ar.d contributed several selections, which added groat I,* to the pleasure of the proeeedn-s. Mr Cr/iis (photographer) was present with his camera, and was Rudcosjful in getting pictures, including one of the orchestra. The committee desire to tender to Mr and Mrs Pikott their acknowledgment for the use of the beautiful and s-nacious grounds, and when the last load of passengers left for town in the evening hearty che rs were given for the host and hostess. The wchestra nnd those conlitbuting vocal items should also bo mentionwl for their efforts to ! entertain the company present. The committee are to be complimeated on the excellence of their arrangements. °
