It was pointed out that Opunake and disvnntiJ \ UlUlel ' a b "' ave disad.vantage in having to! send serious cases so far by roads. A similar resolution had been sent to the Hawera Board. The Chairman, said that Opunake was out of. the Taranalci hospital dis net, and that the Hawera Board was the proper body for the Ppunake Town Board to approach. He moved a motion to the effect that for the reason stated above tic board was unable to accede to the request. Mr Cock seconded the motion,which was carried unanimously. —Reports.— The manager of the Old People's Home reported that there were now d 7 males and 5 females in the institution. The conduct of the inmates had been good, with the exception of that of two males, who liad returned to the home under the influence of drink, One inmate «ad left the home rather than take out a prohibition order against himself. J-he inmates desire to thank the chairman and citizens for Christmas cheer. On the motion of the Chairman, a vote of thanks was passed to those who contributed towards the Christmas cheer for patients at the hospital and inmates of the home. —Chairman's Report.— The Chairman gave a resume of what ho had done in regard to minor ma tiers since the last meeting. —Adjustment of Accounts.— The House Committee was appointed to confer with the Stratford Hospital Board regarding, the adjustment 01. accounts, necessitated by the inauguration of the Stratford hospital district.' —New Nurses' Home.— Mr R. 0. Hughes, solicitor to the trustess of the late Abner King, .vvrpte offering to surrender the lease of sections 422 and 428, leased by them from the School Commissioners, which the Hospital Bonixl desire to acquire for the purpose of erecting the new nurses' home. The terms were the payment of £25 and the fulfilment of minor conditions. The board decided to accept these terms. The following tenders, for the erection of the home were receive 1• Wullath. Miumiv, £712 ;A, A, Pikett, £825 ; J. lyiudup, £B<!P 10s, —General.— Correspondence regarding fees owing by cx-piflients was read and dealt with. The charitable aid list was then cad, and accounts amounting to £459 10s lid passed for payment. i Miss Ethel C. Putt asked that her name be placed on the probationer' list.
