February 22, 24, ond 25.-Dunedin J.C. Autumn. The nominations received for the Taramaki summer meeting are very satisfactory, especially as regards , the hack events. Though the entry for the Cup is smaller by eight than last year inequality is there for an interesting struggle, some of our best handicap horses being nominated. It is also very satisfactory lo note the splendid entry for the jumping events. At the Christmas meeting this class was very poorly represented. Weights are due on January 25th, Mr O. Wright disposed of the Sea- | ton Dclaval mare Idas last week for 100 guineas to a patron of C. Weal's training establishment. She has run disappointingly for the last twelve months. The total amount distributed in stakes at the A.R.C. summer meeting was £9200. The highest cheque was for £1350, the balance being distributed among forty-four different owners. It is i probable that, Mahutonga will head the list of winners for 1904-5. His' winnings in stakes at the above meeting amounted to £1350. Nightfall is located at the Hutt. in view of the approaching Wellington meeting. Messrs Turnbull und Monk's colt Novgorod (Stepniok—Sea Shell) died suddenly at Feathcrstone last week. A private cablegram received in Auckland states that Tradewind, who was taken to South Africa by Mr C. F. Pratt about a year ago, won both the holiday handicaps at one of the recent South African meetings.: Mazer is being given an easy time, as 11. The list of winning trainers at the recent A.R.C. meeting is headed by C. Weal with four wins; D. Moravian, F. Maemenemin, G. Wright, and h\ Holmes had three each ; J, R. Mason, MaKer, R.
