TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL MEETING. (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, Jan. 3. The twenty-second annuall meeting of the New Zealand Educational Institute commenced this morning, the president (Mr J. Jeffrey, of Dunedin) presiding over 65 delegates. The Mayor, acting-chairman oi the Education Board .and chairman of the School Committee, welcomed the visitors. It was resolved that this council records with feelings of profound regret its sense of the loss sustained by tho death of Mr J. G l . L. Scott, of Christchurch, who for 21 years rendered signal service tp the institute in many and varied capacities. It was agreed that district institutes be asked to,' coHect subscriptions to a fund which shall be used to found a pr'izo tp be known as the "J. G. L. Scott Memorial prize," such prize to bo open for competition for tho children of the public school teachers throughout the colony. Mr J. Voss was appointed auditor, and Mr J. Hark'noss, 8.A., was appointed chairman of committees. A committee was set up to consider the remit dealing with the constitution. It was resolved that the Minister for Education be asked to introduce legislation to cenlrailise the inspectorate.
