* MELBOURNE, Jan. 3. The weather was line, but the wicket soft a|"ter last night's rain. Victoria made a poor stand in the first innings, scoring 129—MoAlister 34, Ransford 18, Laver 41. In the second innings they have lost four ! wickets for 162—Laver 20, Scott 45„ Armstrong (not out) 70, OTAGO v. CANTERBURY. DUNEDIN, Jan. 3. The Canterbury - Otago cricket match was concluded to-day'. and (resulted in a win for Canterbury by 66 runs. Canterbury continuing their second innings made 130— of which Barry made 19, Ollivier 15, Orchard 11, Callaway 12, Lawrence (not out) 27, Sims 10t extras being responsible for 19. Otago requiring 111 to win, were disposed of far the miserable total of 44. a !ong day's fielding jn cold weather having apparently taken all the go out pf them. Downes (13) was the only onte to make double figures. Callaway took five wickets for 22, and Bennet five for 10.
