At the quarterly meeting of the Canterbury Employers' Association to-night ol resolution was passed protesting against the manner in which the Shops und Offices Bill was rushed through Parliament. WELLINGTON, Dec. G. At a meeting of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to-day a deputation of persons interested in proprietary medicines was received, and after hearing them the Chamber passed tho following resolution : "That the extensive use of proprietary medicines throughout New Zealand is practical proof of the necessity of these household conveniences ; that the restrictive measures concerning patent medicines suggested in the regulations of the Health Department are not supported by sound reason ; that such interference will only produce confusion and the upsetting of an established custom ; and this meeting therefore expresses a hope that the Government will abandon its intention of bringing tho regulations into force. The Chamber also passed a resolution protesting against the Shops and Offices Act.
