AUSTRIA AND GERMANY.
BITTER FEELINGS PREVAIL IN VIENNA. LONDON, Deo. 5. The Times' correspondent says there is a bitter' feeling in Vienna regarding Germany's hectoring attitude over the commercial treaty with Germany, He hints that she will possibly refuse Austria "the favoured nation treatment." "Germany," he adds, "is endeavouring to abrogutc such arrangements, notably with Britain und America."
THE HEBRIDES. 1 KK.NOII COLONiSTS WANT A PROTECTORATE. (Received Dec. 7, 0.13 a.m.) PARIS, Dec. (1. M. Brunet has submitted to the Chamber of Deputies a report from a committee appointed to eonsidei the petition of sietllers In New Caledonia and the New IWojides praying for the establishment of a protectorate over the New Hebrides. The report expresses the conviction that such a solution is desirable in tho interests of foreign as well aa French residents. Either annexation or a protectorate would solve the difficulty. In any cose the New Hebrides ought to be attached, politically, to Now Caledonia.
