The death is announced of Valentine Cameron Prinsep, R.A., at the age of sixty-six years.
Captain W. Worster, lately in command of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Wakanui, died on Monday at Auckland.
Mr FnJ. Goodacro leaves by the midday train to-day for Wanganui, where he judges the pigeon and cahnry classes at tho A. and P. show. Mr George Lennox Watson, tho well-known naval designer, is dead, aged fifty-three years. His most popular work was the designing of several challengers for the America Cup,, The following pupils of the Sacred Heart High School have received certificates for Pitman'B shorthand work:—Theory, Misses Doris Sheffield and Winnie Bennett, Elementary, Miss Laura Wood.
Mr C. Speck, late of the Stratford Mounted Rifles, who—though not selected in tho last New Zealand Bislay team—accompanied the team Homo and competed for prizes at thoßisley meeting, returned to Stratford on Friday night. Having Ixxai suddenly called away to visit this Pacific Islands, Archdeacon Cole leaves for Onehunga by this evening's steamer, to catch the island boat from Auckland. Ho will be absent for some weeks, and in the meantime it is requested that all matters relating to tho archdeaconry be referred to the vicar of St Mary's, ltov. F, G. l>ans.
