Farmers' Wants.
(Per l'resa Assoc!atlon.) CHRISTCHUHCH, Nov. 11. A deputation from the Fanners' Union Conference waited on Sir Joseph Ward to-day with) regard to various railway matters. It astai him to provido storage accommodation at wintering stations, and additional sidings and improved weighing facilities. The Minister replied that the cost of sidings and goods sheds would bo absolutely prohibitive, and that, moreover, the whole servico would bo disorganised and shipping deluyed if farmers stored their grain in small sheds all over the country. Ho promised to give a trial in Canterbury to a system of consigning trucks to individuals, but expressed the opinion that this would be unsatisfactory, as an efficient service depended upon keeping the trucks moving all the time. He was providing tho chief ports with the best weighing machine procurable, but at the same time did not consider that it was the duty of the Government to provido farmers with commercial weights.
