My Stony River horse fair held on Friday, Oct. 28, was well attended, buyers being present from New Plymouth to Awatuna. A good number .of all classes of horses were yaided, fight draughts, of which there were some very good sorts, being in the majority. There were also a few nice light harness animals, and some fairly good hacks. Considering the unpropitious state of the. weather, and the short notice at, .which the sale was held, I think 'hiad every reason to !h£ salt/isfled with prices walised. Light draughts made from £24 to £BO, nrilk-curt horses from £.lB to £22 10s, light' harness sorts £l2 to £25, 2 year old stallion (light draught) £25, yearling by Albert Victor £ls ISfl, pair handsome rdan buggy , geldings £43, pair . chestnut mares £SO, hacks £4 to £l3 10s, Pitklock £ls, ponies £4 5s to £B. The public will please note that I purpose holding a horse fair at Waiwakaihp about the end of this month, and I shall be glad to receive entries from those fesirous of selling.

Wheat.-Supplies are ottering very sparingly, with farmers refusing buyers limits. Recekt break-up of drought in Australia has receded value -3d in that garter, but general outlook is that »he colony will need all, its own reserves before new season replenishes, and values are consequently firm. Tuscan and Velvet return 3s , 9d, Hunters 3s Bd, fowl feed 3s 3d, seconds 2s lOd.
Potatoes.-Old are workinir off slowly at 27s 6d ton s.i. • Be w round, 8s cwt b.i. ; kidneys,' 16sb i' Maize has. fair sale at 2s 3d sistocks' light).
Barley.—Hardening in wheat is causing more inquiry for feed at 2s. Cape offers a t 2s 3d, malting 8s peail barley £l3 b.i., plg-me a l £4 10s "8:1.
Beans.—Very few available. Crushers costing 3s 2d, seeds 3s od.'
Peas-—Btuo Prussians, ovenheld Bs' 4d ; Partridge, scarce, 3s 9d; split peas £l4 b.i.
Bran is stationary at £3 5s a.!., full stores.
PoUard sells readily at £4 5s s.i.
output lessening. Oatmeal.—Millers' quotations remain at £9 s.i. lor 25's, and £l2 c.i.f.s.i. for rolled oats, with prospect of a slight weakening in sympathy with firsts.
Chaff.—Cost is standing at 67s 6d s.i. South, and 72s 6(1 s.i. North for uai-sheaf, with North practically bare. Value ihould hold for good qualities. Straw chaff is worth 50s s.i.
Hay.—Pressed fodder is slack, rye-clover asking 655, all-clover 77s 6d, pressed straw 37s 6d. Onions.—Australian, fair condition, aro realising £lO c.i.f.d.p.
MESSRS VICKERS & STEVENS' REPORT. Messrs Vickers and Stevens report that there was a large entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday, the following prices being obtained :—Calves £1 6s to £1 10s, yearlings £1 19s 6d to £2 13s, 15 ito 18 months £3 to £3 ss, empty heifers £3 4s to £3 10s, stione cows £2 to £3 13*, springers £4 to £5 ss.
ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 2. At Addington market there was a full yarding and a largo attendance. Fat cattle (239 entered] provoked keen competition, and prices were increased. A lot of North island steers made £9 10s to £JB 17s 6d, others £8 15s to £lO 17s 6d, heifers £8 12s 6d to £9 15s.
Fat sheep.—The entry was larger than usual, and the quality good to prime, a fair number being out of 1 wool. Bidding waa strong, eapeciallly for shorn sheep, and prices were I well maintained. Wethers in wool (good to prime) 25s 3d to 28s Id, a few extra to 30s, others 21s 3d to 24s 2d ; ewes (good to prime) 25s Id to 275, others 21s to 245, shorn wothess 18s Sd to 23s 3d, ewes 14s 3d to 2is 6d, merino wethers in wool 19s to 29s 6d, ewes 17s 9d. Lambs.—By far the greatest' entry of the season, but owing to expdrt buyers not competing, prices dropped. Prime 17s to 21s, others 13s 9d to 21s, others 13s 9d to 16s.
Pigs.—A very large yarding. Baconers were easier. Porkers and stores sold well. Baconers 42s 6d to 57e 6d (equal to 4d to 4Jd per lh), porkers 28s to 38s (equal to 5d to sjdi), stores (largo) 24s to 30s, medium 18b to 245, slipa 14s to 188, suckers 8s to 13s.
BUCKLAND AND SON'S REPORT. (Special to News.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 4. Horses.—Aged heavy draughts £l9 10s to £25, mtedium £lB to £27 10s, good hacks and harness £l6 to £25 10s, ordinary £5 5s to £l3, weeds and ponies £1 10s to £3 7s 6d. At Remuera a rail supply of beef realised lower prices. Steers made £7 10s to £ll 12s 6d each, or up to 24s per 1001b, and cows £4 lbs to £8 7s 6d each, or up to 21s per 1001b. There was an average market of sheep, which sold freely. Shorn wethers made up to 235, ewes to 18s 9d, laftibs 9s 9d to 168 6d. Tigs were in fair supply. Porkers 25s to 355, baconers to 625.
HOMEBUSH STOCK SALES. SYDNEY, Nov. 4. At Homebus-h sheep wore strong. Crossbrcds wee scarce. Best wethers 225. Cattle were lower. Best bullock* £9 10s, good £ft, best cows £7 10s, go 0 d £6 15s, best beef 235.
