After the field settled down into position Rhapsody, Murmur, and Marmont were in front, and at the bridge Rhapsody, with Ruenalf 11. as companion, was still in tlie van, followed by Wairiki, who here lost his jockey and, with Czarovitch, fell. Emir then went up to tiie leading couple, followed by Lord Fitzroy and Sylvan King, several of the otha.-s being close up. Marmonit rushed through and led into the straight from Ruenalf 11., Lord Fitzroy, Emir, Sylvan King, and Blinker. Winn fairly in the straight Lord Cardigan and Acrasia, who were on the outside, came through, followed by Blinker, and a good raci) ended in a victory for Acrasia by three-quarters of a length, the same interval between second and thiid. Time, 3rain 28i sec. Steeplechase.—Lamond 1, Aodallah 2, Lin<Jhia 3. Betting,: 7 to 1 Lamond. Won by two lengths. Time, 4min 16} sec. Van Yean Stakes.— Australia 1, Purser 2, Antilles 3. Betting: 2 to 1 Australia. Won by a length. Time, lmin. 48sec. Juvenile Stakes.—E.L.C. 1, Pius 2, Mosman 3. Six others ran. Won by a length and a quarter. Time lmin 3Jsec. in his fall Wairiki fractured his shoulder badly. An attempt is being made to save the horse for stud purposes.
