NEW SOUTH WALES.
MEETING ITS FINANCIAL NECESSITIES, SYDNEY, Oct. 27. In the Assembly the Treasury Bills Bill passed all j its stages. Mr Carruthers explained that this was required to enable the Government to prepare for the redemption of a million pounds worth of bills maturing in London twl March Ist, and two million in Sydney in 1905-6. In the present state of the money market it was doubtful if a loan could be raised advantageously, and the AgentGeneral had advised, after consulting the London and Westminster Ilank, that it would be better to issue new bills, as the time was inopportune for a longHiated loan, and also that it would tie necessary to gay higher interest on New South Wales loans in tie near future. Mr Camithers added that it was not certain that the Government would issue inscribed stock, but supposing advices in January showed that the market was unfavourable, the Government would be safeguarded if it had power to issue bills.
