Duty on Timber.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. A deputation of suwmillors waited on the Premier this owning to ask for an increased duty on Imported timber. Mr Seddon said it was now rather late In Uio session to introduce u tariff bill. If it could bo shown that such a bill was i n tho interests of the country he was ojulto prepared to risk B profflwal with reBard to imports of Oregon pino. It would ibe important to know whether they were mere speculative importations' or were tho result of dumping operations by American millers. If they were the latter it would be time enough to be up and doing. Ho suggested that millers now in the city should give evidence before the Trades and Commerce Committteo.
