RELEASE OP EDWARD ARTHUR RAVEN. HY CLEMENCY OF THE CROWN. Edward Arthur Raven, who was omtonecd yesterday morning by Mr! Justice Edwards, in the Supreme Court, to two years' imprisonment! with hand labour 011 a charge of procuring another person to perform an illegal operation, was released from the local gaol at yesterday afternoon. Representations were made to the authorities at Wellington regarding R a ven's jwsition as a Crown witness, having turned King's evjde o ce, and these resulted in UlO forwai'dingj of an order to the gaoler for ltavcn's release, undor the authority of the Governor, his sentence having been remitted by tho clemency of the Crown.
