The Trade council has expressed disappointment with the proposals of the Daglish Government, and asked thq Labour Party to secure the adoption of the fjabour platform in its entirety. The Anglo-German arbitration agreenient, which is published, provides! that before appealing to Jhe liague tribunal each dispute must be clearly defined, with the scope of the arbitrators' powers. Periods are fixed for the formation of the tribunal and the several stages of procedure. Sir William McMillan, a member of the Federal House, in un address on preferential trade, declared that the scheme was too ridiculous ior sober argument. It was absolutely impracticable, and instead of building up and consolidating the Empire will, if ever attempted, be the death-note to her political union.
