CHRISTCHURCH, September 2. i The Christchuith Meat Company ! has written to the Mayor that it disagrees with the charges fixed by i the Cdty Council for slaughtering in • 4ta district', considering ttnem excessive. The fees fixed were : For each »r\ carcase of beef, or any portion, 4s ; and mutton, lamb, veal, pork, or any portion. Is. This protest is made in view of the wording of the act that the council may fix such fees as are agreed upon for meat from stock slaughtered in a meat export slaughterhouse. It is expected that a deadlock will occur.
