A resolution passed at a recent special meeting, authorising the stewards to spend £25,00U in tho purchase of land and the erection of buildings for a new course at Trentham, wus confirmed. The following resolution was carried : The Appeal Court judges in the Gladsome and Bagpipes cases have la»d down a general principle that tho rules must be interpreted literally, regardless of what tho general custom has been on tho past ; the stewards of the C.J.C. therefore regret that they have no other course open to them but to uphold Mr Friedlander's protest, although satisfied that the entries have been everywhere accepted without being accompanied by information required by the rules of racing.
