Apologias were r»ceived from Crs, Aliier and Carter, It was decided that the council could not recognise the claim of Mr Harrison, assistant waterworks engineer, for wages during his Alness* uud that bo receive u fortnight's notice of dismissal ; ami that Meip's Weston and Woston, solicitors for th« claimant, bo noliliccl accordingly. Atua's' claim lor overtime will be paid according to certified timesllieets, and he will to offered Mr Harrison's position at £2 per week without overtime.
Mr C. Httnnoll, the secretary of the fljis Company, asked the council to lix a date for its conference with the company's directors on the mattor of purchasing the New Plymouth gas worts. Wednesday next at three o'clock was decided on, and Cr. Cliff appointed to act in place of Cr. Aliier should the latter still 'be absent from New Plymouth. Mrs Davidson forwarded a formal consent for the council to encroach on her sections at Honui with earth used in making batter for r jadway at tile new bridge, on condition that tho council first removes tlie fences to a safe distance.
