MR BALFOUR'S ADDRESS TO BRITISH ASSOCIATION.

Mr Balfour, in delivering tine presidential address to the British Association on the new electjical theory of matter, said it constituted a bold and more scientifically satisfying attempt to illustrate the unity of physical nature tivan former doctrines. It contended that natural science as it grows leans more, a<nd not less, upon the idealistic interpretation of the universe, and emphasises the inevitable incoher,ence of any general scheme of thought built out of matenal derived from natural science alone.
