His Worship the Mayor returned from Wellington last night. Mr A. E, Sykes leaves on Monday on a trip extending over the South Island. Mr'W, T. Jenniiiigs, M.H.R., was a passenger from Wellington by the mail train last night. Mr Phillip Gifoley King, M.L.C., of New South Wales, grandson ol exGovernor King, died yesterday. Sir George Dibbs, so long a prominent ligure in New South Wales politics, died yesterday, at the age of 70 years. A London cable announces the death of Mr Justice O'Connor Morris, a member of the Irish County Court Bench. Sir Joseph Ward, who lias been suffering from influenza during the last few days, is still confined to his residence. Mr J. A. Thomson, the first Rhodes scholar from New Zealand, left ■ Dunedin for Melbourne on Monday, en route to Oxfoid.
