(Per Press Association.) OAMARU, August 5. At Kurow a case is being hoard which ia likely to last for soma days, in which John How-aid Chalmers is charged on two counts with stealing sdieep belonging to A. H. Chapman. The parties are neighbours, and accused only keeps a few old merinos. The neighbour waw two crossbred skins on accused's property, and informed the stock ins]>ector. Chapman, in his evidence, said tlho accused came and asked him to withdraw statements made to t(he police, but ho replied tihiat it was no use doing so, as there wero so many witnesses.
