The oiit church was L beautifully decorated" with ferns; , flowers and dags, while suspended , li'um the roof were numberiua ; t«t.-ln«i, threaded with cotton wool, that had all the appearance of fall* inn anow. The work of decoration was under the direction o< Kr and Mrs H. Stannera, Mr ButU* more and Mr C. E. Ilellnimser. who were assisted by many willing) hands. ' , Little tables were dotted about all ' over tho room and In the usual "cosy corners" for afternoon andt'- ' later on. supper. Tho tables warn • presided over by Mcsdames C, E. , llellringer, Andrews, Gernhoefer uut ■ _ H. Ward, and Misses Connett (2), • . Nixon (2), Coleman, and McQuofd. who all looked perfectly irresistible ,' in their white: caps and oprone, Mra W. Moon presided over a produce '_ stall, and a fruit and lollie stall, a> tended by AiiSBCK P. Ward, E. Sole, ; and A. BeaJe, also did good inui- , ness. Misses A. Ward and 0, Bole wcro in charge of tho mcm'B shirt- . ' r ironing competition—a competition . that caused a, great deal of merrtv j tnent. Other competitions were . tonhole-niaking, and sewing om buttons for the gentlemen, and lnifldriving end whistling for the ladies. Mrs Wright, a Wellington lady, opened the winter garden, and. spoke a few well-chosen words ol welcome and encouragement to all assembled; I ; Mr E. Golding renUcred great assist* '■ ' ance in the musical line, and hla items were much appreciated. Songs, pianoforte solos and duets at intervals during tho alternoon and even-'* ing helped to enliven the proceedings, and a graphophone, under tne caro of Mrs Andrews, gave several selections. The whole a/lair was a great success, and all of the workers . should feel highly gratified at tho result of their efforts, T)he following was the programme of the evening'* musical part, every item of whiclf was exceptionally good and loudly,,' , applauded ;—Duct (piano and Miss Ward and Miss Holding ?
