TARIFFS AND INDUSTRIAL QUESTIONS. BRISBANE, August 3. At the first annual conference of the Ft/deral Council of the Chambers of Manufacturers & resolution was adopted regretting the injurious incidence of the tariff on certain established industries, and recommending the chamber to make investigations, subject to the various States, with a view to presenting a report to the Commonwealth i'arltamrait. It was resolved that each State Government should continue to ljcovide and administer ils own indiiatrial law, and that owing to varied natural conditions uniform legislation would be found unworkable ; also favouring the appointment of unpaid assessors instead of paid assessors in industrial courts.
