THE ATHANASIAN CREED. LONDON, July 16. The Bishops have decided to ascertain the views of the Colonial Church before altering tho rubric relating to the Athanasian deed. The Times considers that the Colonial Church will, by a great niaority, enuurse the cHange, which the Archbishop of Canterbury and most >f his suffragans desire. The Athanasian Creed, formerly attributed to St. Athonasius, Bishop of Alexandria in the fourth century, s now generally acknowledged to :iave more probably been written in ..atin in the sixth century. In the tnth century it was generally revived in the Western Church, and it tho Restoration was adopted by ho Protestants. It consists of an .ntroduction and two positions, with Lheir proofs, deductions and conclutions, the whole enjoining that salvation is contingent upon a firm Hold of tho Catholic faith—the worship of "one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the persons nor dividing the substance."
