EFFECTS OF THE STORM.
SYDNEY, July 13. A quantity of wreckage has been seen oft, New Port, Broken Bay, A schooner supposed to be the Whangaroa was sighted on the 7th with her foretopinast gone. The barffue Laiira, from Kaipara, was iff the Seal Rocks yesterday, short of provisions and requiring a tug. The latter was despatched during the afternoon. (Received Julv 13, 6.20 p.m.,) SYDNEY, July 13, TheLaira encountered a series of 7 gales and was driven far north to Lord Howe Island. The safety of the vessel necessitated the throwing overboard of the deck cargo af 45,000 (eet of timber. This probably accounts for the timber recently washed ashore at Lord Howe Island. The Laira met with a severe buffeting, and -it is feared she is strained. She will be surveyed after discharging. ; (Received July 18, 11.46 p.m.) » SY'DNEY, July 13.
The wreckage at New Port is gupposed to have drifted from the Netnesie.
