•■ WELLINGTON R.C. MEETING. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 18. Tho first day's racing of the Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting was held under moat depressing surroundings. A thick drizzle fell all day and course and grounds were in a very heavy state. The attendance was not up to tho average. A double totalisator (£1 tickets) on tho Steeplechase and Winter Hurdles was well supported. The sum ol £609 was invested on this ninchim and the 25 "pickers" of tho Kai-tcro-Tahao double received <i dividend of £2ll Bs. Tho whole totalisator figures amounted to £8650. as compared with £BSOI Inst year. An inquiry into a complaint against Towers, rider of the winner of the Parliamentary Handicap, for alleged jostling was partly heard and adjourned till to-morrow. Results : Stewards' Handicap, six furlongsKremlin 1, Paritutu 2, Regulation 8. Scratched—Kxmoor, Lady Soult, Sychem, Waitarero. Won easily by two lengths. Time lmin 21 3-Ssec. Dividends £4 10s Od and £3 Us. First Hack Hurdles, one milo and a half—la 1, Otaio 2, Lurcher 8. Scratched—Mocruki and Dete Noir. Won comfortably by two lengths and a half. Time 3min 3 l-ssec. Dividends £2 6s 6d and £2 18s. Miramar Hnuk Well«r, seven furlongs—Joe Chamberlain 1, Hinurewa 2, Ngatarua 3. Scratched—Matukokiri, Crimson Lnkc, and Guelder Rosa, Won by ft long neck. Time 1 min «7wc. Dividends £9 5s and £3 Ms.
