Tho Wnitara Mail reporter took notice of other things than mere football when Waimate and Tukapa mot at tho Recreation Grounds last Thursday. The following is a description of what he siaw,,:—An amusing little incident, but one showing tho feeling of prejudice as between the two New Plymouth clubs, occurred on the New Plymouth Recreation Grounds on Thursday last, during t:ho T.ukapar'Wflii'mate game. Two ladies, one an ardent supporter of the blue amd white, the other, being of the opinion that there was only ono club in Taranoki and that the wearer of tho amber and block, wore Harracfcingi for, Tukapa and Waimale respectively. When Tukapa gained their first score lady number one stood up ia front of her of tho, amber and black persuasion, mid dancud a veritable haka of joy, lauding in her own language the prowess of Tukapa players, to whom tho Stars were not to bo compared. Lady number two listened in silenco, but under her usually dark complexion tho white of rage was visibly showing. Fortunately, both their attentions wero again rivetted on the gamo, oach one barracking for all she was worth. Whew Waimate ! scored, tho Joy of Star's supporter knew no bounds. She bounced up oil her seat at her opponent, romped round her and even shook her fist in the other's face. It looked as if a little scrum would result, but Tukapa's supporter's feelings gave way, and with a glance of pity at the playera sho silently drew out her handkerchief and wiped—either her noso or a tear from her eye. Again interest was concentrated on the game and when the blue and white secured tho second score Star's supporter fell back in her scat, an ashy liuo overspreading her features, and an utter disregard as to whother Waimate could then drag the game out of the fire. Tuknpa's barrecker, whoso nerves were at their highest tension," turned round to her former formidable opponent, but seeing the look on her face, and herself feeling quite overcome with joy, could not utter a word, became once more u woman, nnd with a look of piity at tho subjugation of tho other, burst into tears, and with copious outpouring subsided on the seat.
