RAINS AND GALES.

NEW SOUTH WALES EXPERIENCE. , SYDNEY, July 9. The gale, which has been accompanied by torrential and almost Incessant rain since yesterday morning, is the worst experienced for many years. A tremendous; sea is running, with blinding rain and driving spray adding difficulties to navigation. Immense rollers are breaking at the heads, and tJie spray is carried high over the cliffs, making a magnificent spectacle. The majority of, iessels are waiting for the weather to moderate, but at present (7 p.m.) there is no sign of abatement of gale or rain. The forecast issued at noon predicts a thirty hours' continuance. The steamers Mongolia and Tyarian faced the storm and had a rough time, head seas sweeping the decks. The ships went through safely. A number of vessels, including the Volador from Kaipara, have arrived or run in for shelter. The Senorita, from Kaipara, has reached Newcastle safely. Reports so far as available show Uiat shipping is sheltering. The ketch Bcllflower is ashore at Newcastle, but the crew are safe, although one man was injured.
