HOW THE FINNS WERE OVERCOME. (Received June 22, 10.5 p.m.) ST. PETERSBURG, June 22. The Czar attended the funeral oi the late Lieutenant-General N. l!o----brieckoff, Governor of the Grand Duchy of Finland, who was assassinated by a Government official named Schaumann. A letter found In Schaumann's pocket reminded the Czar of his loyalty, but expressed deep feeling at the breach of pledges made at his Majesty's accession. Schaumann stigmatised statements made by General I!i.j*ieckoli and AI. de PJchvo (now Minister for the Interior) as lies, and blamed litem for the abrogation of Finnish rights and liberty. A copy <>£ this letter had previously been sent to a friend, for transmission to the Czar.
