Among the old residents of Auckland who have lately passed nwav, was .Mrs A. Smart, sen., of Epsom, who came lo New Zealand with her family in the ship Tally-ho just fill years ago. .Deceased, who was a native of EdgA laid, Lancashire, w»s oH yearn of age, and had resided in Auckland with her husband for the last .'lB years. Ry the death of Mrs Elizabeth Jane Phillips, which took place at the Sydney Hospital on June 8, the oldest native of New South Wales passed to her rest. The deceased lady was well known to a very large circle; of friends, and had nuimerous relative's. She was born in Kent-street, Sydney, on September 12th, 1807, and consequently was in her 97th year.
