Police-Inspector Kiely conducted the inquiry, and Iho evidence Showed that deceased Ivad been under treatment for the past, three months by two Maori toluinffas-. The medical examination indicated that deceased bad suffered with pulmonary consumption. Tliu treatment given by t lie toliungas was seven not baths : the man was also steamed in a Maori oven. This was made b\ digg'injgi a hole'in the ground and partly filling it. with hot stones. Herbs and mats were placed over these, and tho patient, was then covered with six blnnkets, and was kept there, in a restless condition, for nearly an hour. Tho verdict was, "iVath from natural causes," hut. n rider was adder! to tho effect that j Iho Government he recommended to tako steps to suppress tohuwjfa treatment.
