AGENT-GENERAL'S ADVICE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 13. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from "the Agent-General, dated London, 11th June : All qualities of mutton aro dull of sale, and quotations aro the same as cabled last week. The lamb market is firm, with good demand. Average price to-day for New Zealand lamb, Canterbury j brand, 5Jd per lb.; for brands other than Canterbury, Tijd per lb. The beef market is depressed. Average price to-day for hind quarters New Zealand beef, 3Jd per lb. There is no demand for forequarters, which ■ire quoted nominally at 2Jd. The butter market is unchanged. The cheese market is quiet, with prices slightly jveaker. Average price to-day for finest New Zealand cheese t3s per cwt. Now Canadian cheese ! s quoted at 41s. Hemp.—The market is quiet, but rather steadier. New Zealand hemp, good fair average grade, is quoted at £3O per ton in all positions. The price of Manila hemp, fair current grade, on spot to-day is £32 10s per ton. The cocksfoot market is steady, with a fair extent of business doing. The average price for bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171bs per bushel, on spot to-day is 53s per cwt. The current Bradford quotations ior tops are ' Thirty-sixes Is per lb, forties Is ljd, forty-fours Is Ijd, fifties Is 4d, fifty-sixes Is 6jd, sixties 2s OJd. 110MEBUSH SALES. In cattle values were lower, best bullocks making £lO 10s, g o od £9 10s, Ix-st cows £7 10s, good £7 ss. Best "qualities of beef averaged 24s per 1001b.
