OTAGO RUGBY UN'lOrv. DUNEIIIX, June 13. The Hugby Union declined to reopen the case of King, who was disqualified for life for alleged tripping. King wrote denying any intentional tripping. The captain of the Zin-gari-Hichmond team was diy./.ialilied for a week for taking 011 a player in place of one injured ; but was allowed to appeal to the New Zealand Union. SOUTH TARANAKI MATCHES. In Henior play llawera defeated Patea by 30 to nil ; Kltham and Okaiawa played a <lra\vn game, no Score being registered ; and Wairaate defeated Opunake by 8 to 3, as reported yesterday. In junior matches llawera b«at Patea by 25 to 3; Waimate beat Opunake by 10 to nil ; and Eltham and Okaiawa drew, each side scoring three points. IN OTHER PLACES. At Wanganui on Saturday senior football, which on the previous Saturday was characterised by rougn play, was by way of change noted for its brilliancy and absence of objectionable features. The Chifjnicle, reporting the Pirates-Kaierau match, says that "By the time this game (which had advertised itself well the previous Saturday) was started, tho crowd had swelled to record proportions, expectation )>eing writ large on the majority of faces, drawn, doubtless, by the prospect of an Olympic display, punctuated, perhaps, by sundry players being invit«l by the referee to leave the field. ' Kia Ora beat Jolmsonville by 22 to nil ; and Wellington defeated l'oneke by 14 to 3., At Palmerston the senior football fixtures resulted Old Boys defeated Awahuri by 13 points to (i, and Institute beat 1 Palmerston by 6 points to 5. SOUTLIERX (JAMES. At Punedin Zingari-Kichmond and VDiversity drew—'Varsity scored a try and Mngari a penalty goal. Southern beat Pirates by (i points to nil. Uunetlin beat I'nion by 14 points to 8. Allvam'bra beat Kaikorai by (i to nil. Christchurch beat, Sydenham by 6 points (two penalty goals) to 3 (a penalty goal). Allbion beat Canterbury College by 13 points (a potted goal and three tries) lo nil. Linwood beat Old Boys by 14 points (a goal from a try and three tries) to six points (two tries). Albion leads for the championship with 7 points, Sydenham, Chris'tchurch und •Unwood being next with five each.
