THE SYDNEY TRAGEDY.
JEALOUSY AND A REVOLVER. (Received June 10, 0.48 a.ui ) SYDNEY, June 9. lne'mcjuest on the victims of the Castlereagh-street tragedy is unfinished. Evidence was given that Walker and the woman Pounceley had been keeping company for. a considerable time. They were mutually jealous. A fortnight before the tragedy Pounceley told a friend she had quarrelled, but "could not live without him, or she would shoot both." A private detective deposed that Pounceley on Monday week emploved him to ascertain if Walker was married, and also to find out his relations with other women. She was very excited. ' Another witness saw them at a hotel together tho night before the shooting). Walker was drunk, but the girl was sober. Pounceley asked, "What would you do if your boy went with other women ?" Witness replied, "Leavo him or shoot him " Pounceley then said, "I will shoot you to-night, Walker," adding to witness, "If you look in the papers to-morrow you will see a trairedv reported." •* Experts aro positive that the note found in tho room (indicating u n intention to shoot Walker) was Pounceley's writing.
