Municipal Abattoirs.

OFFICIAL OPENING AT WAIWAKAIIIO. Another step in tho march of pro.gross that has of late been noticeable in New Plymouth was consummated yesterday afternoon, when in the presence of a fairly large gathering of citizens the newly-erected municipal abattoirs at the Waiwakaiho were formally opened by the Mayor. Promptly at 2.y0 his Worship the Mayor, accompanied by the members of the Borough Council, arrived and wire shown through the buildings, the method of working bi'-ing explained by the manager, Mr 0. J. Stone. The party then proceeded to the main door, where Mr Cock addressed those gathered outside.
