In the Supreme Court this morning, before Mr Justice Williams, four Urothers named Leonard, for making false declarations before the Land Hoard, were admitted to probation for six months, ami ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution (JLiJU). TI.MAUi\ June 7. At tile Supreme Court true bills were found in live eases, and no bill in a case of alleged incest. Judge Williams commented at length on the s.s. Waiwera. manslaughter case, and on a case of sluvpsteuling in which the owner of an accommodation paddock killed a sheep accidentally left ■behind from a mob. The defence was set up that this is an old established custom. Two minor cases were partly heard to-day, the first being adjourned to procure additional evidence for the accused, whose defence to a charge of forgery and uttering is mistaken identity, and the second case being uncompleted. In a charge of threatening with firearms the defence makes paints of the fact that the revolver presented could not be fired at the time and that accused was too drunk to have any "intent" at all.
