COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE Hemp.—The market is depressed. Good fair Wellington, in clock, is quoted at £3O per ton. Wheat.—An Australian cargo sold at 29s 7jd per quarter. WOOL, SKINS, Etc. At the periodical sale of hides there was small supply and demand. Prices had a downward tendency,and thero was little business. Dry salted, none in ; wet salted leather, lifeless. Sydney basils, firsts 13fd, seconds 10M. The Frozen Meat Trade Association's Smithfield market quotations for tho undermentioned classes of frozen meat are on actual sales of not less than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb or 25 carcases of beef of fair average quality. These quotations are not for selected lines, bint for parcels fairly representative or I lie hulk of the shipment now on the market :—New Zealand shwp—Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes : Canterbury light 15 to 541b8, Canterbury medium 56 to 641bs, Canterbury heavy 64 to 721bs, Dunediu and Southland 56 to 641bs, North Island 55 to 651bs. New Zealand lambs ; Canterbury light, 28 to 361bs, Canterbury heavy 30 to 521hs, Dunodin and Southland 28 to 421'bs, North Island 28 to 4211>5. New Zealand beef : Ox fores 180 to 2201b5, ox hinds 180 to 2201b5.

Beef, lores unchanged, hinds HJd ; River Plate sheep unchanged ; hides 3gd. AGENT-GENERAL'S ADVICE. WELLINGTON, June 0. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London 4th/ inst. : Mutton.—Market dull, but holders are firm. The average price to-day for Canterbury brands, light weights, is 4Jd per lb, heavy weights 4Jd ; average price of brands of North Island mutton 4d, River Plate mutton 3|d. There ia good demand for all lamb and prospects this season are considered very good. Average price today of New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brands, is 5Jd ; for brands other then Canterbury 5Jd. ; River Plate; lamb sd.

Beef.—Market weak. Supplies of River Plato beef arc increasing, and the shipment of American chilled beef is large. Average price to-day of hind quarters, New Zealand beef, is 3id, fores 2Jd. The butter market is dull, and nil transactions arc on a very limited scale. Heavy supplies of butter or* coining to hand from the Continent and Ireland. Average price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 85s, Australian 82s, Argentine 83s, Danish 945, Irish 87s, Silwrian 80s. Cheese.—The market is firm. Awnage price to-day of finest New Zealand cheese is 445.

The hemp market is dull. The price of New Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington grudi; on spot to-day is £3O per ton. The present stocks of hemp in London total 601 tons, as against 603 tons at this date last year.

The cocksfoot seed market is firm. The average price to-day of bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing lTjlbs per bushel on spot, is 52s per cwt. The quantity of River Plate mutton imported into the United Kingdom during last month (May) was 182,410 carcases, of which 50,114 were landed at London, 101,179 at Liverpool, 9157 at Newcastle, 8850 at Cardiff, 4003 at Southampton, 1473 at Plymouth, and 7334 at Irish ports.

Sixteen thousand two hundred and eighteen carcases of River Plate lamb were landed in the United Kingdom, of which 0739 were landed it London, 8679 at Liverpool, 500 Cardiff, and 300 at Irish ports. Ten thousand cwts of River Plat* butter were landed at Liverpool, London, Hull and Southampton.
