Many of tho trees, which have been inspected by Mr Charles Clayton, Government Surveyor and exsawmill proprietor, are by girth from !) to 15 feet, and in length from 14 to 30 feet. The bush is easy of access and to work, ami should prove a most remunerative' investment for any capitalist, or company. Air Charles Clayton says " There are plenty of places throughout New Zealand whore mills are placed with nothing tike tho timber mid prospects that the bush in question possesses, and the great facilities and advantages for working it." The object should be first to deal with the puriri, as the Government Railway Department; offer an in,mediate market for sleepers in any quantity. This bush lias been sought after for the la9t 25 years, but the difficulty in dealing with tho natives has hitherto been insuperable. The N.Z. Herald supplement recently contained a notice of the excellent quality of the timber on this land. It is estimated that there is ample timber to furnish a supply for 20 or 30 years.
