CODE SECRETS.
MINISTER AND COMMANDANT. MELBOURNE, June 1. Mr Watson (Federal Premier) informed the House that General Hutton's cypher was queried by his predecessors, and the present Minister for Defence insisted on having the message decoded. Sir E. Hutton declined on the ground that the translation might afford a clue to the cypher, but he told the Minister its purport. The matter was ended, but strict inquiry would be held to ascertain how news of the incident reached tho press.
