LYDENBERG BANDIT LEADER'S PERJURY. '(Received June 1, 10.48 p.m.) CAPETOWN, June 1. Durand, ringleader of the LydenTjerg bandits, has been indicted on a charge of perjury, in declaring in an affidavit that the Boer leaders had promised to assist him. The leaders ■were thus able to clear themselves, and swore that Durand's statements were false, and that the action of the Government in the matter was ratified hy the Boers. GENERAL PROGRESS. ' CAPETOWN, June 1. At the opening of the Transvaal »nd Orange Council, Lord Milner stated that the Transvaal was paying its way, and the Orange Colony had a substantial surplus. Personally, 'he favoured a forward railway policy, offering to capitalists more liberal terms.
