(Per Press Association.) THAMES, May 31. A deputation representing the local No-liccnse League waited on Hon. J. McGowan to-day, and discussed several matters, but nothing fresh was elicited. The Minister simply repeated the reply already given. In connection with the Newtown and Bruce polls, Mr McGowan said the only object the Government had in view was to secure a true expression of the opinion of the people on licensing questions. Personally he would make no promise to support any particular measure enabling a second poll to be taken where a first was invalidated through the remissness or otherwise of a returning officer, until he was acquainted fully with the details' of the proposed amendment of the act.
