POPE AND KING.
THE VATICAN AND TEMPORAL POWER. ROME, May 30. Cardinal Svampa paid homage to King Emanuel at Bologna, and afterwards dined with the King. The populace cheered the incident, which is interpreted to mean that the Pope is desirous of restricting the temporal power question to Rome.
