OUR LETTER BOX

Vwe are at all times willing to publish correspondence on' matters ol public Interest, but it must be distinctly understood that we are not identified with the letters of our correspondents.—Ed. Daily News.) THE VOGELTOWN FOOTPATH. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Permit mc, through your columns, to draw the attention of the Carrington Road Board to the fact that wo in Vogeltown are at present separated from the town by several chains of very slippery clay, commonly known as a footpath. " Once upon a time," as the old saying has it, this path was epiite the thiag ill many respects, but the march of time has proved that those little round pebbles which formed' the gravel have gone, goodness knows where, and what remains is a treacherous and slippery way totally unlike those provided by neighbouring bodies. There is tho road of course, and, in spite of the very heavy tralfic 011 Victoria Road, this is Metier than the sidewalk. Could the road board, in its wisdom, expend a few pounds in spreading some gravel 011 the path, so that we and our children, who have to go to school, could walk down the hill without being afraid every moment of measuring our full length in the greasy clay ? Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc., A VOGELTOWN MOTHER. WARE (?) COINS. (To the Editor.) Sir,—ln your issue of yesterday you describe a find of Roman coin's in Buckinghamshire. Only two coins are described, and neither of these are rare. In fact, they belong to the most common class of Roman coins, of the lower Empire. I find on looking up the ordinary sale catalogues of Messrs Spink and Son, of Grace-church-street, London, that the coin of Crispus may be bought extra fine for Bs. and the coin of Galerius Maximianus for 4s (id. also extra line. Why and where a find of two such common coins was honoured with a speciaJ description passes my understanding.—l am, etc., IT. M. LUND, Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society.
