Railway Construction.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 30. In an interview with reference to the main trunk line, the Hon. J. McGowan said there were now but 56 milep of that line untouched to link Auckland with Wellington. Of the 426 miles required to complete the work, already 323 miles were open for freight and passenger traffic, eight additional miles will be thrown open to-duy for goods traffic, and the rails are laid for seven and a half miles beyond this point. Thirteen and a half additional miles have already been formed, and 18 miles are in progress. Up to March 31st last the colony had spent on' tho line £1,815,924, and it will cost, half a million moro to 1, complete it.
