Brass Bands Association.

(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., May 21. At a meeting of the Executive of the North Island Brass Bands' Association last night, it was decided to obtain test and march selections from Boosey and Co. and It. Smith and C 0,., London,. A suggestion from the Mastcrton Band, that the association combine with the Inveicargill Contest Committee, and obtain an adjudicator in England was not adopted, as the association limited the judge's fee to £SO. A request from Ilawera that the 1906 contest be he'd there was referred to the annual meeting of delegates. A tender was accepted for gold and silver medals for tho champion band. Messrs W. T, Wopd, M.H.R,, A. J. Graham, P. Meyrick, a.hd (J. Pickering, all of Palmerston, were appointed vice-uresjclente of the association. Tho secretary was instructed to draft an alteration to rules 52 and 53 in the direction of permitting competitors in the solo, trio, and quartette competitions to provide their own selection, owing to representations by leading publishers at Home that the association's demands for music of this description are greater than those of any similar institution in the world and that it would be necessary to obtain supplies from France, Germany, and America.

The proposed alterations will be submitted to the annual meeting of delegates.

The secretary reported that the first prize in the test selection at Auckland will be £l5O and of the quickstep £75.
