For the first time in the history of the Timaru-to-Christehureh road race it will be possible for the i whole of the colony to bo represented. The Dunlop Tyre Company are organising test races through the League's Centre Secretaries in Auckland, Palmerston North, Napier Wellington, Nelson, Dunedin and Invorcarg'ill, and the competitor establishing tlie fastest time in each of these events will have his expensesi paid so that he may compote in the big ■ event on the 16th July next. The dates for the I'JO4 World's Championships which are this year to be held on the Crystal Palace track, (Eng.) havo now been definitely decided, and are as follows : 3rd, Bth and 10th September next. Australia will probably be represented at this meeting by the Australian champion, Don Walker, who proposes making a racing visit to Europe, leaving Melbourne early in Juno. Major Taylor also intends competing at the classic London meeting, and sails for Europe at an early date. A very creditable motor car drive was accomplished recently by Mr R. A. Duncan, who drove from Adelaide to Melbourne, a distance of nearly 000 miles'. Mr Duncan drove an Oldsmobile (5 h.p.), and left Adelaide on Wednesday, April 27th, reaching MelIxmrne without troublo on Saturday April. 30t1.». The actual driving time en route is stated to be only" 38 hours. Mr Duncan Intends returning by tho same route. Tho prizo list in connection with the. Timaru-to-Christchurch road race •will he by far the most valuable olfered for a cycle race of any description over held in the colony. Already the Canada Cycle and Motor Co., Ltd., have denoted a Red Bird cycle ; Messrs Bell Bros., Christchurch, a Bell cycle ; and Messrs lnglia Bros., Wellington, a Hover rvA Tasmaniun motor cyclist, named A. M Campbell, two weeks ago beat the Launceston to lipbnrt express tram by 18 mjnuteH. Campbell covered tho 116 miles between the two cities in ulirs. 40mm., as against the train in flhrs. (ifjmi,,. Last year in tho Dunlop Tasmuninn test road contest, the winner, A. Hanlman covered the distanco on a bicycle in 7nr», 33mm. 21 sees.
