(BY " CENTRE-HALF.") SOUTHERN TARANAKIGAMES. Hawera seniors beat Eltham by 24 to ■">, and Waimate I. beat Okaiawa I. by 6 to 5 ; Patea seniors succumbed to Opunake, the scores being 26 points to nil. In second grade football Hawera beat Eltham by 3 to nil ; Opunake heat Patea by 8 to 3 ; Waimate boat Okaiawa by 3to nil ; Eltham beat Hawera by three to nil. Waimate 111. beat Hawera 111. by 9to nil. A Patea messago states that in the second grade match Opunake v. Patea tho play was rough, the Opunake playc-rs being tho transgressors. The referee was very weak and apparently had no idea of rough play. A protest was entered on tho ground that an Opunake member was an unqualified player. OUTSIDE MATCHES. At Greytown on Saturday the local seniors defeated Carterton by 3 points to nil. Rothery, who plays for the New Plymouth Stars, lives at Okato, and consistently attends matches.

Tho FiUroy Fire Brigade has challenged the New Plymouth Fire brigade to a friendly game of football, and the match will probably eventuate on Victoria Hay in the Uecreation Grounds.
