The Gisborne Fatality.

A CASE OF SUICIDE. (Par Press Association.) GISBORNE, May 2. At the inquest on Fredk. John Wakelin, manager of McLernon'e Jewellery shop, who was found shot dead through the heart yesterday, {(die evidence given showed that deceased had been complaining for a week of the state of his head. His wife had remonstrated with him on several occasions for inattention to business, but they lived on good terms. He had been a large backer of horses, and sustained some heavy losses lately. A verdict of suicide whilst temporarily insane was returned. The jury added' a rider expressing satisfaction that the police had been taking steps to suppress the gambling mania and hoped they .would not relax their efforts.
