(Pram Our Correspondent.) The Bachelors' Ball—tlie first in Tongaporutu—came oil on Friilav. The weather was nil that could i,e desired, the moon being'ut its full. The bachelors worked with a will, and the whole thing was a decided' success. About fifty couples sat down to supper— tlio largest number that has graced a ball-room north of Wnitara. The supper was prepared by Messrs llewson and Son, of Wailara, and was creditable In a very high degree to their skill us caterers The music consisted of u pin.no, three violins, a cornet, etc., an orchestra equal to anything that New Plymouth could produce. The people went to enjoy themselves, nnd diev did so to the full. Dancing was kept up with spirit, till daylight, when everyone went home talking of nothing but the excellent ball.
A householders' meeting was held in tho schoolroom on tJie 25th. when four gentlemen put in n» appearance. Tliey elected themselves into a committee of four, ami decided to ask the Education Hoard to elect one more,
